Hello everyone!

I am having the time of my life this week! I’m on vacation in San Francisco and diligently working at the same time:) The city is great…reminds me of New York City, but only cleaner and much easier to navigate.

I’ve went on a city tour today-missed Alcatraz due to it being sold out-and will go on a Napa Valley/Sonoma Tour tomorrow. I cannot wait! I have dreamed of coming to San Fran for years despite my coming to the West coast on several occassions. And now I’m finally here and don’t want to leave:) This is the first time I’ve felt this way about a place, since I visted London a few years ago.

I also went to the 32 Annual American Indian Film Festival this evening! I was hoping to run into my crush Jay Tavare who won best actor in the AIFF for his role in Unbowed. Although I only caught the awards show, I’m glad I went because the event was very inspiring and educational. All of the documentaries honored were fantastic! I didn’t see Jay, but I did run into that other cutie Michael Spears from his mini-series “Into the West”.

Oh, well enough about my travels a little update on To Dance with a Demon…it’s finally done:) Yes, I took my computer with me and finished it!!!!!! Right now, I’m slowly going through the edits. This book is a catalyst for my demon series. I am still up in the air about a name for it though. It’s a toss up between:

Gideon’s Crossing (The hero is named Gideon)
The Lost Souls
The Soul Collector

What do you guys think it should be? If you have a better name, I’m open to suggestions!!

Moving on…

I’m also in the middle of editing my Viking Time-travel story, which I finished a month ago. Upon finishing it, I put it down until now because I was so sick of seeing it and didn’t want to tackle that chore just yet:) So once both are run through with a fine tooth comb, I will submit both of these to my editors before the end of the month! These two will add to the one already in for consideration.

What’s on the horizon you ask? NOTHING! I’m done…I think…for the year! Well, I will admit I do have an idea for another series on the back burner with several other authors:)

Hello!

I am rolling in bloated from too much dust Halloween candy:) So much has been going on in my personal life that I have not had the inclination to come here, and I apologize. But, I will let you know that I am this close to completing To Dance with the Devil!

Back in town and back to the old computadoro! I went to my alma mater’s homecoming this week-end and I actually survived the entire week-end without any internet!
Here is a snippet of To Dance with a Devil , which I’m currently working on.

“Well actually I won’t be learning the mambo after all…”

“What do you mean?” The Madame asked planting her hands on her hips.

“Well…I no longer have a partner-”

“You’re getting rid of me so soon?” A male voice interrupted. Macy whipped around to face him as she leaned against the french doors leading to Madame Veliko’s private studio.

A strange wooziness ran up and down Macy’s spine as her eyes fell on his handsome visage. And despite the warning bells going off in her head and the proverbial little devil whispering in her ear she knew she would not heed their warning for her body and her heart wanted whatever this man was willing to give her.

“N-no,” she stammered as he closed the distance between them not stopping until he practically towered over her.

“Good because I think we make good couple you and I.” He then stooped down until his lips were mere inches from the shell of her ear. His warm breath tickled the ultra-sensitive flesh of her temple. “Both in and out of bed.”

Macy’s toes curled at his innuendo. Thankfully, the Madame’s voice sliced through the sexual tension that suddenly filled the minute space between them. However it didn’t dispel the heat suddenly spotting her cheeks.

“So, are we on one accord now?” She asked from what seemed like another planet although it was just across the room.

Macy nodded her head, while Gideon took one of her hands in his own and pulled her to him. “Basic dancer’s pose?” He asked. Although it sounded more like a command, rather than a question.

Madame Veliko nodded her head in acquiescence. She then lifted her arm gracefully pointing the remote control at the stereo in the corner. As if by magic, the studio began to thump with Jennifer Lopez’s Let’s Get Loud. Rodrigo, her assistant, pealed himself from the stool he’d been sitting on and then sauntered across the room to take the Madame in his arms.

“There are four beats to the Mambo; however, on the first beat one remains still. The other three beats are quick…quick…slow.” The Madame enunciated, while she and Rodrigo demonstrated the steps.

“Quick…quick…slow.” She repeated.

“Looks easy enough.” Gideon mumbled as he faced her.

“You always say that,” Macy snorted. Although she had full faith in his abilities. It was her won skill that she had the least faith in. But like before, she would simply follow his lead and the rest would follow.

While they awkwardly followed the Madame’s direction, she continued. “The mambo has its roots in Cuba. It’s name is derived from the name of a Haitian voodoo priestess who was said to have been a soothsayer, healer, and even an exorcist-”

“Ouch!” Macy cried when Gideon suddenly stumbled, one of his feet landing on the top of her instep.

“I’m sorry,” he apologized drawing up short – his expression decidedly uneasy.
“Are you okay?”

“Y-y-yes, just a little distracted by the Madame’s history lesson.” He supplied rather lamely. He then stepped to the side to begin the dance again.

“You’re obviously not from New Orleans, if the tale of a voodoo priestess spooks a big guy like you. Then I have a lot to be worried about!” She joked in an effort to ease the tension she now felt in his body. She was rewarded with a smile, which slowly curved his full sensual lips. She let out a gush of air when he suddenly hauled her against him the swing of his hips leaving nothing to mystery.

“I’m not easily spooked,” he whispered. “But their were aspects of her story that definitely raised some hackles on the back of my neck, but I assure you, Macy, there is nothing to fear while in the safety of my arms.”

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to share a Halloween Story I wrote today for a fellow friend of mine who is sponsoring a Halloween Contest on her blog. Here is the link to the contest: http://bekkilynn.blogspot.com

French Quarter Fright

“I think I’m gonna hurl…” Laurie grabbed Felicia’s hair as she suddenly doubled over.

“I told you not to have that last Hurricane.”

“That was three drinks ago,” Felicia choked.

“True, but at least I said it.” However, her scolding fell on deaf ears as Felicia proceeded to purge her system. Not wanting to get sick herself, Laurie looked away.

The streets of New Orleans were packed with revelers and sinners alike on this last day of Mardi Gras. And like Felicia, many of them were committing as many sins as they could before the start of Lent.

“What the hell is that smell.” Laurie wrinkled her nose in distaste. Although an odd smells or two wasn’t out of the ordinary for such a huge gathering of people in a two mile radius. However, this was something altogether different it was something akin to road kill or death itself.

As a precaution, Laurie proceeded to check the bottom of her sneakers. However, the soles still looked fairly new. Not wanting to chance a look at the gem Felicia was gifting New Orleans proper, Laurie proceeded to scan the hundreds of revelers milling about in the street.

“Hey buddy Halloween’s over,” Laurie mumbled under her breath as her eyes fell on a guy on the opposite curb.

Attired in tattered clothing, his scraggly brown hair hung in limp strings around his gaunt face which from the look of it hadn’t seen the light of day in years. His coal black eyes hung in sagging sockets, his nose was strangely misshaped from several breaks, and his lips appeared greasy.

The crowd suddenly parted and her eyes were drawn to the rat dangly between his gaunt fingers. Blood dripped from its neck.

“What the fuck?” Laurie whispered her eyes swinging back to the man’s face. And in growing retrospection, she realized that his lips were not stained with grease but blood.

“Mmmmm…fmmmm.” Laurie struggled with the words in which her lips refused to form. She tried to move and her feet seemed rooted to the curb. “Feelllll,” she moaned again. But her friend did not come to her rescue – still too occupied with her own misery. Her eyes swung back to the creature.

Now that he had her undivided attention, he threw the rat in the gutter and stepped down off of the curb. Sensing her dilemma, it smiled – the gesture producing a pair of badly decaying three inch incisors.

“Mmmmmmm!” Laurie cried.

And then…Felicia suddenly staightened up from the curb. “Whew! I think I’m better now come on I hear Bloody Mary’s settle the stomach.” Oblivious to her plight, she took her hand and proceeded to pull her down the sidewalk.

“D-d-did you see that thing back there?” Laurie asked.

“What thing?”

“I t-t-think it was a vampire,” Laurie whispered. She then stopped in her tracks and pointed back to where they’d come…but, the creature was gone.

Good Morning Monday everyone! Well, I’m back at work today from a long week-end. Geesh and did I need it. And guess what I didn’t write once. Yahoooo! I needed a break. But never fear, I am hard at the grindstone today working on To Dance with the Devil/To Dance with a Demon. Sorry, I can’t decide on a name yet, just like I can’t settle on the hero’s name either. It has gone from Devlin to Sebastian, to Roman and Zephyr. Now it is Gideon, which I like. And I’m gonna have to like since, I hope to expand this story into a series about demon hunters called the Lost Ones.

Oh well enough about that. I also wanted to share a link to a blog by a fan of mine who gave me great reviews on Charmed. Here is the link:

Hope you all have a great week!

Yeah today is Friday and I desperately needed this day! This week like many weeks in my life lately have been truly chaotic and filled but even more so since my birthday was on Wednesday. But of course I am enjoying every minute of it.

I’ve been working on To Dance with a Demon, but not as industriously as I should be especially since I have put myself on a self-imposed deadline of October 31 and I currently have only 11,100 words and this one is slated to be 40K;P Oh well, I was always the one in school who waited until the last minute to do anything:)

I also picked up a book from Harelquin’s The Wrong Bed series. The second Harlequin I’ve ever read in my life. I’m currently reading it for research in hopes of probably submitting an old manuscript for that line.

I also submitted Charmed for RWA’s Rita this week but I doubt it will even be cracked beyond page one considering it begins with a sex scene…oh well.

Well I hope your week went good as well:)

Life comes at you fast…are you ready?

It seems like I’ve been living by this mantra for so long now, I don’t know whether I’m coming or going. As you know I finished one manuscript and now I’m working on another. To Dance With A Demon is a romantic comedy/dark suspense story that I’m hoping to turn into a series. Basically the premise is my hero is a half human/half demon who turns his back on his father to be with the woman he loves. However, he to do so he must give up his immortality and work against those he once was himself.

I came across a great blog by the Wet Noodle Possee meant to provide tips for winning in the Golden Heart Contest which is like the Oscar’s for the romantic writing world. The reason I like this blog so much is that their tips are just as good for winning contests as writing that winning manuscript for submission.

Here is the blog link:
